Jon Hughes (right) established the practice in Sevenoaks, Kent in 2000. He has thirty years’ experience in the UK and overseas. Timothy Ball (left) joined him in 2001 having run his own practice in London for twenty-two years. Tim runs the practice’s Benenden office. Both Jon and Tim are Chartered members of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and have over sixty years’ experience between them.
Passionate about art, architecture and music, Jon studied Architecture at Cardiff University and Liverpool College of Building. His early career saw him establish a practice on Merseyside which developed into an international practice with offices in the Middle East, Spain and eventually London, working on a wide range of residential, education, healthcare, tourism and leisure projects. He also carried out consultancy work in Canada involved in Federal infrastructure projects, schools, social housing and North American Indian Community Centres.
He eventually settled in Sevenoaks where his inspirational designs quickly won him a loyal following. Jon runs the Sevenoaks office which serves clients in West Kent, West Sussex, and Surrey towns including Orpington, Chelsfield, , Bromley, Godstone and Caterham, East Grinstead, and also in the outskirts of Greater London eg Croydon and Coulsdon).
Before teaming up with Jon, Tim ran a successful architectural practice in Wimbledon, South London specialising in high-end residential, commercial and healthcare projects. His clients included Scott’s of Mayfair Restaurants and Clubs, various GPs wanting surgery ‘make-overs’ and the NHS, for whom he designed an award-winning Walk In Centre at St. George’s Hospital, Tooting. He also put basements under and extensions onto a large number of Victorian houses! Passionate about contemporary architecture and music, Tim is one of very few Kent architects using advanced 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM) software that everyone involved in a project – clients, contractors, sub-contractors, engineers, surveyors – can benefit from to visualise the end result, speed up the building process and reduce costs. Together with his wife Sue, Tim runs the Benenden office which covers East Kent and Sussex towns and villages including Goudhurst, Tenterden, Cranbrook, Hawkhurst, Heathfield, Etchingham and Battle.
